The DOJ says Rep. LaMonica McIver, a Democrat from New Jersey, assaulted a federal agent outside an ICE facility. McIver is disputing the charges, calling the investigation “purely political.” She and her colleagues were there for a planned oversight inspection of the facility when ICE agents arrested the Newark mayor, which sparked the incident.
